ARA’s SET and ERG Integration Updates

If you are following the ARA, you probably have already heard about the two significant initiatives – SET and ERG.

SET (Standard Equipment Taxonomy)

SET is intended to provide a standard way of identifying and categorizing each piece of equipment based on its manufacturer and model. This taxonomy creates consistent ‘Cat-Classes’ across the industry.

ERG (Equipment Rental Guard)

ERG is intended to capture, then help manage, both equipment theft and fraudulent people.

Both of these will help Equipment Rental companies operate more effectively and reduce losses. 

Fame has been excited about these programs and has been committed to the integration of these tools from the outset. Fame feels that the effectiveness of both programs depends, in part, on having easy access to the tools and information from within the relevant rental management processes.

Fame’s SET Integration

Fame announced that the SET integration is ready to go. Each piece of equipment can get the proper SET codes with the click of a button. All you need is a valid manufacturer and model number. Once all equipment is properly identified, the Fame Dashboards can be set up to operate either on your traditional Cat-Class structure or on the SET structure. It could not be easier.

Fame’s ERG Integration

Access to the ERG functionality is still a work in progress at ARA, and Fame is right there with them. Expect real-time notifications when anything unusual is detected. Of course, the safety of your people comes first, so these notifications will require a safety process on your part (e.g. your person at the counter may not be the person notified if a suspect is identified). Fame will be configured to comply with your safety protocol.
