Prioritizing Health, Family, and Work in 2023 and Beyond

Several years ago, I was given some advice that I have done my best to live by — and I have encouraged others to also live by:

Your life’s priorities should focus on Health, Family, and Work. In that order.

As 2023 draws to a close and we all take time to connect with family and friends, this advice makes as much sense now as when it was first given to me. Here’s why…

Health

If you are not healthy, you will not be able to care for your family or do your work effectively. Remember that being “healthy” does not just mean physical health; it also means taking care of your mental and emotional health.

Physical health requires a balanced diet and lifestyle, and regular exercise. Mental and emotional health requires stress management, a bit of meditation, and, if needed, counseling. Pay attention to how you feel at every level and take the time and necessary steps to ensure that you are at your best.

Family

If your family is having any number of issues, your ability to concentrate on your work will be very much limited. Studies have shown that, overall, taking time away to address family issues will pay off in the long run. To do this requires support from your employer, and if that is hard to come by, consider who you work for.

Work

Because of having rental software, you can operate at peak efficiency — without being burdened or distracted — you will be able to get more done in far less time.

The more effective you can be at work means that everything will get done faster and in less time. Plus, the quality of your work will improve. When all of that happens, you’ll have more time to focus on your health and your family. Now that’s a win-win-win!

Applying the Priorities to Businesses

This advice also applies to businesses. As I discuss goals and strategies with our clients, it’s always interesting to observe how the “health, family, work” priorities also apply to them.

If a business is going to perform at peak potential, then it must be healthy (financially, operationally, technically, etc.), and it has to have a culture of mutual respect and support (much like a family). In a Harvard study years ago, Employee Satisfaction has a direct correlation with Customer Satisfaction. Implementing modern rental solutions, such as rental software, can streamline operations and enhance customer satisfaction.

What I have described above has always been my mantra for conducting my life, although many around me will tell you that I do not always live up to it! Trust me, it’s easier said than done.

Conclusion
